The fire started at the 76-year-old Nassau County diner, the iconic Thomas's Ham and Eggery in Carle Place just after 8 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 26.

According to the Carle Place Fire Department, when firefighters arrived on the scene they began searching for the seat of the fire and found it in the electrical panel in the basement.

Once the power was shut off, the attack line "made quick work of the fire," the department said.

After the fire was out, the department searched for any extension, but none was found.

No one was injured during the incident, as the owner had escorted customers outside when he smelled smoke, officials said.

The owner said on Twitter the restaurant would be closed until repairs can be made.
